The Cequence executive team includes three former leaders from Palo Alto Networks that helped the company grow from zero to nearly $500M in revenue, and helped create the next-generation firewall market. In addition, the co-founders of Cequence previously enjoyed great success at Symantec, where they developed and scaled multiple network security platforms and solutions to stop advanced attacks.

  • Larry Link

    President and CEO
    Larry Link has been at the forefront of the network and security technology industries, and brings more than 25 years of executive experience creating, building and managing profitable enterprise technology businesses. Most recently, Larry served as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Palo Alto Networks (NYSE: PANW). In addition to his role at Stealth Security, Larry serves on the board of directors at CloudPassage, DB Networks and Squelch. Prior to his role at Palo Alto Networks, Larry was SVP of Sales for Silver Peak Systems. He ran Worldwide Sales at Neoteris from inception through its acquisition by Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR) in April 2004. Prior to Neoteris, he was Vice President of Enterprise Sales for Excite@Home (Nasdaq: ATHM) from its launch in 1996, through IPO in 1997 and its subsequent merger with Excite in 1999. Earlier in his career, Larry held engineering, sales and sales management positions at Silicon Graphics and Hewlett-Packard. He earned a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University.
  • Ameya Talwalkar

    Co-founder and CPO
    Over the last 10 years, Ameya Talwalkar has built strong engineering teams specializing in enterprise and consumer security in Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Madrid, Pune, and Chengdu. Before co-founding Stealth Security, he was Director of Engineering at Symantec. He was responsible for its anti-malware software stack that leverages network Intrusion prevention and behavior and reputation technologies, and anti-virus engines. Under his leadership, Symantec developed an advanced version of network intrusion prevention technology that blocks more than two billion threats a year. Prior to Symantec, Ameya worked in various engineering roles at Valicert, focused on PKI-based security solutions for finance and government. He led the first commercial implementation of RFC 5055 and contributed to its progress at IETF. Ameya holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the University of Mumbai’s Sardar Patel College of Engineering (SPCE).
  • Shreyans Mehta

    Co-founder and CTO
    Shreyans Mehta is an innovator in network security and holds several patents in the field. Before co-founding Cequence Security, he was Architect and Technical Director at Symantec, where he led the development of one of the most advanced network security platforms and intrusion prevention technologies based on real-time packet inspection and cloud-based big data analytics. It’s responsible for detecting more than half of the billions of threats that Symantec identifies every year. At Symantec, Shreyans started the Safeweb initiative for marking malicious sites in search results and played a key role in making it a successful standalone product. In partnership with VMware, he developed one of the first agentless IPS engines that transparently protect virtual machines. Before that, he was a lead engineer at VPN Dynamics, a VPN/firewall startup. Shreyans has a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Southern California.
  • Franklyn Jones

    CMO
    Prior to joining Cequence, Franklyn held CMO positions at Bromium, Spikes Security, and Cyphort (acquired by Juniper Networks). Franklyn was also with Palo Alto Networks for 5 years starting in 2007, helping the company create a leadership position in the next-gen firewall market. Prior to that, he held senior marketing positions with Blue Coat, 3Com, and ShoreTel. Franklyn graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Communications from Michigan Tech University.
  • Tony McIlvenna

    VP of Worldwide Sales
    Tony McIlvenna brings a wealth of business experience as a senior Sales Executive with a proven track record creating, building and developing highly productive winning territories and sales teams while acquiring loyal customers and channel partners in early stage companies. Tony has more than 23 years experience managing exceptional growth and success at technology companies such as Palo Alto Networks (NYSE: PANW), Silver Peak Systems, Neoteris acquired by Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR), Cacheflow/Bluecoat acquired by Symantec (NYSE: SYMC) and Cabletron Systems.
  • Michael Barrett

    CISO
    Michael Barrett has been a longtime leader in providing leading-edge website security for major organizations. Before co-founding Cequence Security, he was the first president of the FIDO Alliance, an open standards organization focused on authentication. He also ran the Liberty Alliance, the open standards organization that created the first identity federation protocol, SAML 2.0, which is still widely used. Michael was PayPal’s first Chief Information Security Officer and held that role for seven years. He also served as Vice President of Security and Utility Strategy at American Express, where he helped define the company’s information security program and Internet technology strategy. Michael was twice selected one of the “50 Most Powerful People in Networking’ by Network World magazine and was named ‘Information Security Executive of the year’ in 2010. He earned a BSc degree In Computer Science from Brighton University in the U.K.
